Big Brothers Big Sisters 24th Annual
Wine Tasting (Saturday, Nov. 18)
This very popular and worthy annual fundraising event took place at the Grass Valley Veteran's Hall, 255 South Auburn Street ($25 per person, click here for for more info). We poured/sold our '04 Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with many other area wineries. 20% of our sales were donated to BBBS.
First Wine Club Member Tasting (Oct. 29).
Members tasted sweet fermenting Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc juice, poured over ice-cream, a truly delectable once-a-year treat.
It was also the last tasting of our very popular 2004 Barbera. Bottles from the last case were sold to members as were bottles from the last case of our Cinq Etoiles 5-variety Bordeaux blend.
Many signed up to be part of the crew for the upcoming bottling sessions. With our first release wines selling out at a faster pace than we anticipated, we will need to catch up on bottling the remaining '03 & 04 vintages (Merlot, Cab Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, more Titan blends, another Petite Sirah, Sauvignon Blanc, Fleur de Lune, and our Port).
Finally, we also previewed our Holiday Gift Baskets.
Loma Rica Harvest Festival (Oct. 21). Donated Tempranillo and Syrah to pour at the wine booth and benefit the local 4H-Club.
Auburn Wine Festival (Auburn, Oct. 14), where we met many Auburn tasters, some of whom had already made it to our tasting room. Great crowd and event. Sold out of all wine bottles brought to event ! (Tempranillo, Petite Sirah and Syrah)
Gold Country Wine Trail (Sept. 30 & Oct. 1)
We had and excellent turn-out under ideal weather conditions for this event, where we released our new '04 Syrah and '03 Cabernet Sauvignon. Besides enjoying the wine and the food, visitors we also able to taste fermenting Petite Sirah juice from freshly picked/crushed grapes while listening to a selection of vintage French music. An apt description, provided by an enthusiastic taster, for this once a year delight was liquid blueberry pie !
Wine sales were brisk and we sold out of the Titan I and are nearly sold out of the Barbera and Cinq Etoiles (we expect to be sold out within a few weeks).
Beautiful photography exhibited from Weimar photographer Adrian Schneider were also very much appreciated.
Taste of Gold (Nevada County Fair, Sept. 10). A great combination of food and wine made for a very successful event. We poured our Petite Sirah, Tempranillo and Cinq Etoiles where we had many return tasters, followed by subsequent visits to our tasting room, a sure sign of appreciation.
Taste of Chico (Chico, Sept. 10). Had a wonderful time pouring for Chico tasters at a really well organized and attended event, where we poured non-stop our Barbera, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo to a very appreciative crowd.
Roots & Wings Wine Tasting and Boat Cruise (Lake Wildwood, Aug. 5). We were stationed at the loading dock, where about 300 people tasted our Barbera, Petite Sirah and Titan I before boarding the boats under ideal weather conditions. All three wines were received equally well. A great event !
Amador County Fair Wine Tasting (fairground, July 28) where the county
fair award-winning wines (including ours) were poured. All our wines (Barbera, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo) did very well with the tasters, mostly coming from the local area and from Sacramento.
Grapes & Gourmet (CA State Fairgrounds, July 13, 2006). Must attend
event (90 restaurants & 600 CA State Fair award winning wines, including ours !).
Click here for more info. Our Silver award winning Petite Sirah was very well
received by public and trade tasters alike, attracting the attention of quite a few
potential brokers/distributors.

> Six wines were released (all 2004's): Petite Sirah, Barbera, Tempranillo, Cinq
Etoiles (5-variety Bordeaux assemblage), Fleur de Lune (Muscat/Gewurztraminer

> Sold out of 2004 Fleur de Lune. The 2005 vintage will be bottled later this summer.

4th Annual "A Grape Affair" (June 3rd, 2006)
This yearly event, assembling a dozen or so wineries from the Northern Sierra Wine Country in one location (Smith Vineyard and Winery) was a great opportunity to sample (and purchase) the large diversity of top quality wines produced in our area. Click here for more detail on this joyous springtime celebration.
Under perfect weather, the event was sold out at 400 people. Solune poured 4 wines (Barbera, Petite Sirah, Cinq Etoiles and Fleur de Lune) and we sincerely enjoyed you dropping by to chat with us and taste these wines. All our wines were very well received, with the Barbera leading a very close popularity contest.
